Her Name was Breyna! She was a Priestess!

I’m not going to apologize for the title today.  Excitement warrants a little bit of crazy. 😉

Project Breyna is slowing down.  I have been slowly fabric gluing the bias tape to cover the headpiece.  And I actually hemmed the robe with some yellow bias tape.  But other than that, I did a trial run of wearing the whole thing.

And the head piece is not going to fall over!  The shoulders are a little bit more concerning.  I need to buy some better velcro than what I have to secure all the pieces.  Also, I will probably need to walk through doors sideways and will occasionally hit someone with a shoulder, much to my husband’s dismay.  Here is the back view.

Please note how awesome the costume looks with red and white snowflake pajamas on underneath it.  I am truly surprised at how sturdy the headpiece feels, but the unwieldy shoulders make up for it.  You can see how bulky they are from the back too.  And one more from the front, sans blue fire, but with the ivory slippers I’ll wear.

After the velcro and some black jewels, the only thing left will be to make a staff to carry around with me.  I have always wanted to learn to do molding and casting prop work, and a friend who is very good at that sort of thing has offered to help with the staff.  I’m sure you will see plenty of updates here 🙂

What’s next on the my agenda?

1) Friday I am attending sewing & crafting night at Elizabeth’s, and I intend to make a pair of excellent giraffe pajamas and the fingerless gloves to go with this costume.

2) I am going to attempt a flask cover / wrapper to go with my Steampunk costume.  Also, a hat!

3) I might begin cutting fabric for a dress.  Either to wear to my sister’s bachelorette party or her rehearsal dinner.  Or both.  It will depend on whether or not I get it done in time 🙂

4)  I might do a trial makeup run, at least for the steampunk costume.  I am not planning anything fancy for priestess day.

So be prepared for fewer sewing related posts in the coming weeks as I describe the final prep for DragonCon costumes and go on my super fun annual gaming vacation with old friends.  Vegas should be afraid.  Very afraid.

Your snowflake pajamas do look extraordinary. Although I didn’t even notice until you told me to. Hee hee. The costume looks amazing! The back is quite stunning. I’m very impressed.

Thanks. Funny how the pajamas glared out to me, hehe. Not to worry as I will not be sporting them at the con!!
