Our cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas last week was fantastic! But rather than bore you with a super long post, I’m going to keep it short and take a page from my friend, Karen’s book. She’s doing six word stories on her blog for a month straight! I am not that committed, but I think it’s a neat idea and a much less wordy way for you all to sample my vacation 🙂 So here it goes – one photo with a 6 word caption per day (I took no pictures on our drive home)!
Long drive to Port Everglades occurred.
Drunk Colin has hair styling skillz.
Four fancy people on the ocean.
Pirate Jesse hated all the pictures.
So hungover, the “boat” still moved.
Daily shots at Schooner with Helefia.
Taste all the wine (and cheese)!
One other final note, mostly because the cruise lines seem to get so much bad press lately. We were notified on Friday that our boarding of the boat would be delayed because the cruise on our boat the previous week had an outbreak of norovirus. Royal Caribbean had us board late because they sanitized the ship. They threw out anything from the week before (therefore they were out of a few things or took a while to stock up during our cruise). They had employees with hand sanitizer behind the automatic dispensers, in case they noticed anyone try to make it into a dining area without using the sanitizer. The captain said the week before they had about 180 cases (our of about 4000 people on the boat). During our cruise, nobody got sick. And we had a wonderful time. And as a final note, the staff we spoke to told us the week before had more kids than typically because of Easter and Spring break (about 1300 out of 4000 were kids). Knowing what I know about kids’ propensity for getting sick and spreading germs … I’d be willing to bet that contributed! Regardless of how it happened, rectifying the situation was handled well, and I think the cruise line should get some props for that.
Later this week, we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled sewing and crafting projects 🙂
