With a post title like that, you may be expecting more Star Trek, maybe Borg centric. But today I’m taking a break from May’s theme. More spacey sewing occurs as we speak and posts will return next week.
So what exactly did I fail to resist?
Despite my urge after last DragonCon to skip a year of attendance, I find myself itching to go again. Thus, my husband and I talked, we registered, and will now be going – HUZZAH!
Which means costumes. Hopefully two of them. And possibly my first year changing costumes midday at the con, since I have enough I want to take with me.
Both were recent ideas and they just seemed to FIT what I want to make right now.
1). Hades from Hercules
This will satisfy my urge to crossplay along with my urge to do a Disney costume of some kind. Also, it meets my criteria for a costume without a corset! Bonus: cool contacts, makeup, and wig/hair styling. Might even try out some elwire.
Here are a few cosplay photos I have found that I like a lot.
And this one!
I found them both on Pinterest and tried to link back to the sources, but I couldn’t find much on the second one. Let me know if you have a better source please!
2). The Lady Amalthea from The Last Unicorn
While this was easily one of my most favorite movies as a child, I have three things to blame for this decision: Jen B., a recent Qwertee purchase, and a spontaneous viewing of the movie on Amazon Prime a couple weeks ago. I can reuse my purple contacts from Rainbow Dash, but will need a long white wig. I might do some light styling on the dress, but I’m not sure yet. Definitely making a fake mirror prop to show my unicorn reflection as well!
Here is a fabulous cosplay group from The Last Unicorn:
By the time I finish all my theme projects from May… I’ll have three months to get these done. I think I can do it. I still have a quilting project I want to do as well, but I think it will have to wait a bit more.
