As usual, the prospect of finishing a corset is making me want to procrastinate. So instead of doing much work on my Fluttershy costume, I did some random jewelry making projects this week.
First up, I received a great gift from my friend, Kelly – Mario question mark box earrings, for my upcoming Disco Mario Princess Peach cosplay. Only “problem” was, the earring holes in my ears closed years ago. But I decided to remove the pierced hoops and attach the earring bits to some clip ons.
And then I decided there was a lot of potential in Sculpey clay. My friend, Hannah had a birthday last week, and is a huge Harry Potter fan. So I made her a pair of Ravenclaw earrings and a pendant!
Man, some of the tiny clay work was crazy on these! I added some beads and clip on pieces to the earrings as well.
This went well enough, so I decided my Plants vs. Zombies shirt needed a necklace to match. Friday night I spent making some various plants out of clay as necklace charms.
I think I need to make a couple more to finish off the piece. If you play Plants vs Zombies (which is a fantastic tower defense game), which plants should I make for the rest of the necklace??
Also, to feel somewhat productive with my weekend, I sculpted Fluttershy ears out of Sculpey which I will glue onto a headband to wear over my wig.
I think this week I will buckle down on my waist cincher and try to finish it up so I can move on to the top and my Angel prop, then Liono.
Oh, and in other board gaming news, we played the next few missions of our Star Wars: Imperial Assault campaign over the weekend. It was fun – check out this video I posted to Facebook – and we’ll continue sometime in March. If you think you are interested in the game, don’t forget Boardgamegiveaway.com is going to be running a contest in March to give away a free copy! If you can’t wait for that Rebel on Imperial action, there is always Amazon! 😉
