We traveled this weekend to spend some time with family, so I wasn’t home with access to my sewing machine. I did however, drag several of my 5×7 canvases with me so that I could continue my Geek Alphabet project for the baby’s room.
Amidst all the visiting and socializing with family we hadn’t seen in a while, the celebrating of our nephew’s birthday, the board games, the food, and the poker and Pinochle, I did sit down and sketch up some more letters.
I will start with my least favorite letter so far. The image I used as a reference for this one was a little weird to begin with. I definitely want to represent Star Trek and Picard in this alphabet, but I suspect I will continue to be frustrated with this drawing and ultimately find a better image to use and redo it.
Things got better after that fail, though. I did K is for Korra to represent the Avatar world.
In case you are curious, I have been looking up “chibi” in front of all these characters in an attempt to keep a general cutesy style applied to all the different images.
Then we moved on to W is for Wonder Woman. I want to make sure my son looks up to lots of strong female geek characters as well as male ones, so Korra and Wonder Woman both help with that. Samus from Metroid might make it onto a canvas as well.
And the last one I did this week was D is for Dragon. I used a picture of Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon because I wanted him to be in this alphabet, but I am pretty certain the letter T is going to be for TARDIS…
A few letters I am struggling with are A, I, M, U, and Q. I have something written down for each of these, but would love some suggestions, to see if y’all think of anything better or if you come up with the same ones as I have. :). Please suggest in the comments! Thanks!
