If you’ve been following, you know that I had some recent trouble with the styling of my wig for Disco Princess Peach. I decided the solution was to get some large curlers and attempt to use those and some products and teasing to add body to the flat boring hair in the back of the wig (thanks, Marianne, for the ideas!).
The good news is, I am much happier with the updated wig style. The bad news is, the curlers only seemed to work in the hair that I had already poured a ton of hairspray and glue into, and that I dampened with some water prior to curling. I even added hairspray to the back of the hair when I realized that this was the case, but it didn’t seem to help much. When all was said and done, I wound up just using the Got2bGlued spray while I held some of the hair away from the wig a bit, to get it to have just a tiny bit more volume.
Above is the original style, the in progress only-somewhat-effective-curling process, and the restyled wig. Kind of silly how much difference that little upturn at the end of the wig sections made.
Happily, once the wig was on my head, pulling some of the hair from the back of the wig forward over my shoulders seemed to give me the look I wanted, so YAY! It was pretty weird having that giant triangle of bangs in the center of my forehead, but that is her hairstyle, and I can definitely deal with it heh.
So here is the final Disco Peach costume, all put together!
I probably need to try to break in these boots a bit, my toes are getting a bit squished. I am also gonna add a pocket for my cell phone underneath one of the hot pink over skirt pieces. Not sure how helpful that will be as I cannot use my phone effectively with the gloves on … Here’s a small variation on the pose, with the bobomb higher in the air (and also not facing the camera), and one leg out. I think I like the first pose better, but maybe with the leg out? Have I mentioned I hate poses?
Here is a final pose option, that would have been excellent if I had a slightly bigger prego belly (although I have to say I look and feel fairly pregnant in these photos …) and if I had followed through on an idea to reveal which plumber brother’s baby is in the belly … but alas, I didn’t feel that idea would have worked out well with the way the hot pink overskirt is laying on the babydoll dress.
I do have some invisi-star bling to make me match the boys, and some quite fun earrings that Kelly gave me a while back. I’ll try to get a better photo of these later while wearing them. Here is a shot of all three costumes side by side, but without a few of the details, like mustaches and fireballs 🙂
Do we look ready for the disco inferno? 🙂 We’re looking forward to wearing these next Saturday!
