October Objectives

As much as I enjoy this blog, I feel the end of the year / pre-baby slow down beginning to happen!  Here’s what I’ve been up to since my last post.

I received a few photos of Mark and his family enjoying their time at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party in their dwarf costumes.

They look great in their costumes, and check out the smile on his little girl’s face while she hugs Dopey!

Next up in terms of costumes?  A Maleficent one for another friend’s daughter.  First, we determined exactly which version of Maleficent Julia wanted.  Then I met them a few weekends ago to get her measured. Here is the look she is wanting:

I checked the patterns at Jo Ann’s for a quick make pattern, but no dice on that.  So I used Julia’s measurements to draft one.  I’m not sure yet how I will do the stand up collar pieces … I am out of Fosshape, but have a couple of ideas.  The headpiece is not gonna be sewn, though I will fabricate some horns for her with foam, and then we’ll wrap them in a black ace bandage to complete the look.  Since I have leftover Christmas baubles from the Mario and Luigi costumes, I will use those to make a staff for her fairly quickly, with glowy lights, but not crow hehe.

I bought fabric for this and have it cut out as well.  Just need to sew it together.  The trickiest part will be the sleeves with their connection to the sides of the dress/cloak thing.  More on this as it gets completed!

I’ve also continued the random nesting / cleaning of the house.  Some cabinets got cleaned out, I installed the other roller shelf thing next to my pots and pans.

I still have a few other things on my list to make – baby blanket and alphabet finishing – and of course the wedding dress.  But it’s a prioritization game.  I did make some progress on the wedding dress – patterned and cut out the pieces for the practice dress bodice, as well as the pieces for the base layer of the final dress.

Been interested in video games a little more lately too – expansion to Civilizations Beyond Earth comes out tomorrow, and I still have several RPGs and platformers I am enjoying (LEGO dimensions!).

My parents are in town visiting this week, so that will be a nice visit.  Don’t expect much posting!

And last, but certainly not least … it’s the third trimester, and my husband and I started our Labor and Delivery classes at the hospital last night!  O.o  29 weeks down, 11ish to go.

She looks so happy in that picture! I can’t believe you’re already in your 3rd trimester too — the time has flown by!

No kidding! And the fall always goes by fast …
