Yesterday my son turned 8 months old. EIGHT. MONTHS. OLD. I can only imagine that time starts flying by even faster the older he gets :/ But not dwelling on that … time to share some more of my geeky monthly photos with you all.
I know I haven’t done this terribly evenly. I think I first shared the photos from January and February, trying to do this every two months. Ooops. Then y’all saw months three, four, and five. And now I’m gonna share six, seven, and eight. My goal is to do one more post for the next three months (9, 10, and 11) and then I imagine I’ll post something about his first birthday and the final month photo for the year. That is my plan right now anyway!
Let’s quickly review the fandoms we have already visited.
Month 1 – Star Wars
Month 2 – Firefly
Month 3 – Mariokart
Month 4 – Jurassic World
Month 5 – How to Train Your Dragon
June, Link’s sixth month, was themed with Harry Potter things. When he was a newborn, we used to call him ‘Our Little Hufflepuff” because he did so much huffing and puffing when he was making sounds at that age. So his outfit is Hufflepuff centric. I also scored him a wand and some glasses, like Harry’s (these did not stay on his head well, he kept taking them off). I grabbed the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone illustrated book that we got for him, as well as the Sorting Hat I made for our Harry Potter Halloween party a few years ago. Finally, the chalkboard for the month featured each of the Hogwarts houses and the motto of the Marauder’s Map: “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.” I think the chalkboard I did for this month is one of my favorites.
During Link’s 7 month photos, my husband and I were away in our first vacation away from the baby – my sister-in-law’s Alaskan cruise wedding! It was amazing, but that is a story for another time. My point is, I created the chalkboard before we left, and my parents stayed with Link and took the photos for us :). Thanks, Mom & Dad! They did a nice job too!
This month’s theme was Star Trek (appropriate since Beyond came out, no?). We received a Star Trek Science Officer onesie back at our baby shower last October. We also got a stuffed Tribble toy in one of our loot crates a while back. And I grabbed a stuffed Enterprise from Amazon to finish out the shot. The chalkboard is a little on the boring side.
And of course, because we have so much Star Wars stuff, that we did a few shots of Link as R2-D2 as well.
And this month, we did a Doctor Who theme. My favorite doctor is Eleven – Matt Smith. So I grabbed one of his quotes for the board, threw the Doctor Who logo on there, and wrote Lincoln’s name in Gallifreyan in the center of the logo (no clue if the reference I used is correct, by the way heh). I grabbed our Tardis mini fridge (which we often take in the car on our way to DragonCon) as a prop, along with a 12th doctor sonic screwdriver that was on sale on Prime Day. My sister gave us the onesie for our baby shower, and I bought the suspenders and bow tie. Mom and Dad gave us the Chuck Taylor socks for our baby shower.
One of Link’s new skills this month is pulling himself up into standing position, so we posed him as such. And Dad wanted to make him ride the Tardis. Which was fun!
Stay tuned for more photos in November! I have plans for each month, but hard to say if I will keep them all… Later this week, more on the tuxedo progress!
